A budget here is one category and one monthly cap. As you log against that category the bar fills, so checking where you are takes a glance rather than arithmetic.
Which ones are worth setting
Two or three, and usually the categories that surprised you in last month's report. A cap on something you never overspend is a cap doing no work.
