Back up and restore

A backup is how your records reach a new phone. It is on the free plan.

A backup is a copy of what you logged, made when you ask for one. Restoring it puts those records onto a phone, which is how a new phone picks up where the old one stopped.

Backup is not the same as an account

A backup is something you make and keep. An account keeps two devices in step continuously. If one phone is all you use, backup is the part that matters, and it costs nothing.

  • Backup and restore are both on the free plan
  • Make one whenever it suits you
  • A restore covers what was in that backup, so a recent one is worth more than an old one

A backup made before a change does not contain the change. Making one before you switch phones is worth the minute it takes.
